On September 4, 1994 my husband and 2 boys walked in to the stable with the adorable little black puppy and handed him to me saying, "Happy Birthday!" I fell in love right away! Jesse James was half Husky, half black Lab. He was my best friend & lived up to his name. Jesse was a beautiful dog, very intelligent with a mind of his own. He was that once in a lifetime dog you will get. He was also my first dog. In his prime, he weighed 100 pounds, this picture he was closer to 90 pounds...but still beautiful!

After reading your poem and wiping the tears out of my eyes, I had to just write something about how much Jesse touched my heart and those around us. Everyone loved him, even our one neighbor who was kind of afraid of dogs, was upset at his passing. After 14 1/2 years, he left us on Dec. 10, 2008.
